#Alhamdulillah a successful management story of Right sided Pneumothorax in #Preterm baby

Right-Sided Pneumothorax in a Ventilated Preterm Neonate A preterm neonate weighing 1.7 kg, receiving mechanical ventilation for Respiratory Distress Syndrome (RDS), developed an acute right-sided pneumothorax following endotracheal intubation. The diagnosis was established clinically and confirmed on chest radiography. Prompt recognition and thoracic decompression/chest drainage were performed, with subsequent stabilization of the neonate and improvement in respiratory mechanics. Follow-up chest X-rays demonstrated marked radiological improvement, with resolution of the pneumothorax and improved right lung expansion. The case highlights the importance of early recognition and timely intervention in ventilator-associated air-leak syndromes in preterm neonates, where positive-pressure ventilation and immature lung parenchyma increase the risk of pneumothorax. This case emphasizes the role of serial clinical assessment ,team work and radiological monitoring in guiding successful management of neonatal pneumothorax.
