Alhamdulillah !

We successfully managed an 8-month-old female child diagnosed with left-sided congenital diaphragmatic hernia (CDH). The child had a history of recurrent respiratory infections, poor weight gain, and repeated hospital admissions for chest infections. After thorough clinical evaluation and appropriate investigations, the diagnosis was established. The child was medically optimized and subsequently underwent successful surgical repair of the diaphragmatic hernia.

Post-operatively, she recovered well, remained stable, was shifted to the PICU for close monitoring, and was weaned off oxygen. Oral feeds were started and tolerated well, with excellent clinical progress and readiness for discharge. This case highlights the importance of early recognition, appropriate pre-operative optimization, careful surgical repair, and multidisciplinary teamwork in achieving good outcomes in children with CDH.
